As part of a group of eight, created a strategic plan for a fictional community law archive, including an org chart; a list of strengths, weakness, opportunities, threats, & strategic outcomes; & ideas of expanding spaces & proposed budgets. Served as “CEO”/team leader for group. Used Zoom to meet as a group, Google Drive to create coordinated documents, & Microsoft PowerPoint for a final presentation.

Created a series of basic Android applications using MIT’s App Inventor & Zoho Creator. Created basic website using Drupal 8. Learned about computer maintenance & optimization using various applications (depending on operating system).

As part of a group of five, created a small Omeka cataloging site (The Digital Dino Den) designed for amateur & hobby dinosaur enthusiasts, aged twelve-plus. Chose photos and created metadata according to Library of Congress standards. Used Zoom to meet as a group, Adobe Photoshop to resize photographs as needed for free Omeka site’s upload limitations, & Adobe Premiere to create final video presentation.

Wrote a series of essays on controlled vocabulary & metadata in fan fiction, analyzing them based on Dublin Core standards.

Learned about a series of potential issues facing information studies/libraries today & how they can be either hinderances or stepping stones, including copyright, social media, privacy law, intellectual property, etc.

Learned how to tell stories “on the spot.” Clearer speaking skills, being a more engaging speaker. Used Zoom to meet in small groups, Adobe Premiere to create short presentations, & Adobe Photoshop to make small image edits as needed.

As part of a group of seven, researched fictional users concerns with the Florida State University’s digital library, how to gather further information, how to survey reluctant users (including survey incentives), & presented our findings to fictional stakeholders. Functioned as “CEO”/leader of group & filled in on assignments when others did not show. Utilized Zoom to meet as a team, Google Drive to create coordinated documents, & Microsoft PowerPoint for a final presentation.

Learned how to research within government databases & websites, including FBI, White House, Congress, & others. Published my final paper as a 3-page article entitled “The Mental Health Systems Act of 1980” in Documents to the People (DttP) later in 2022.

Learned the basics of cataloging according to Library of Congress, Dewey Decimal, & Dublin Core standards.

Analyzed the collection development policy of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Library (NAL) Special Collections, once a copy was obtained via the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine. Produced visual documents showing my progress of what I thought my goals & mission of the next five years should be. As part of a group of four to five, analyzed work regarding collection development & challenges in libraries. Used Zoom to meet as a group, Google Drive to create coordinated documents, & Canva to create coordinated team images.

Cataloged physical objects into various styles of collection databases, including Omeka & Collection Space, using different standards, such as Dublin Core, Cataloging Cultural Objects, and Library of Congress. As a final project, volunteered to catalog at least 10 records from an online project: chose Measuring the ANZACS & completed 25 records.

Analyzed the information management and access on the national and cultural level. Developed the skills and knowledge to compare the social, cultural, economic, and political factors that affect access to information and information service provision.

Learned current trends in professional topics and issues relevant to information-providing agencies in traditional and online environment. Worked solo and in groups. Final project: Created a LibGuide for Magical Realism (literary genre).

Studied media analysis and production activities. Information studied included: copyright, copyleft, and creative commons. Learned to create “rule of thirds” photos, images edited to include text, and 30-second audio only podcasts. Midterm project: Creative Commons images set to song. Final project: 2-minute video project.

Learned to wireframe for a website, building from information learned in LIS 5661 (SUMMER 2022). Used Figma to create mockups for website, while working with “design team”. Ran several versions of user testing, including online one-to-one interviews, A/B testing, and focus groups.
